Top 10 Movies

I was thinking about this after watching King Kong. Making a top 10 list of movies is difficult, especially for me, who doesn't own any movies and or watch movies more than once. I also have a terrible time thinking of movies off the top of my head. So here's a go, and maybe my readers can help me out...

1. Forrest Gump
2. The Matrix
3. Fight Club
4. Batman Begins
5. Schindler's List
6. Momento
7. The Lion, the Witch, and the Wardrobe
8. Return of the Jedi
9. King Kong (maybe because I just watched it)
10. Gladiator

And I have to add some honorable mentions...

11. Monty Python and the Search for the Holy Grail
12. Airplane
13. Superman
14. Return of the King
15. Raiders of the Lost Ark
16. Vanilla Sky
17. Winged Migration
18. Independence Day
19. Amadeus
20. Shawshank Redemption

I tend to have a theme of psychological "life is not what is seems" type movies.

Gump: classic super-movie. I think this movie will always be one of my favorites.
Matrix: again, a very good picture. Nothing will ever top the first time I saw the Matrix (oh my gosh-they just ran her over with a dump truck-she must be dead...but wait..WHAT THE HECK IS THE MATRIX!!?)
Fight Club: another really, really good one. Again, like the Matrix, the first time you see Fight Club, you never see the suprise ending coming. It was an experience in film.
Batman: Ooooh, yeah. I'm going to have to go ahead and disagree with you on that one, yeah. I didn't find Christian Bale to be a very good caped crusader. And the new Batmobile is retarted. This is just my opinion, take it or leave it.
Schindler's List: A very touching piece of history that everyone with a strong stomache over the age of 18 should see-ONCE! It was a great movie, but blood-spurting gunshot wounds to the head should be entertaining, not tragic. Good choice though, a priceless flick.
Memento: a good movie, but I had a tough time giving it my full attention. Perhaps it was a bit too abstract for me. Still, a good movie...just not one of my favs.
Narnia: bad acting, bad CGI, and bad character development. Altogether unbelieveable. I am glad I saw it, but I wouldn't pay to see it twice. I rather like the old cartoon version better. The White Witch was very well-cast and her costumes were awesome; and Liam was a good voice for Aslan.
Jedi: I can't possibly disagree. I'm very glad you didn't say "Attack of the Clones," but then again, I have more faith in you than that.
King Kong: It was cool, very cool. However, the second time I watched it, all I wanted to see was King Kong vs the Tyrannasaurs, and the rest of the movie was merely time spent waiting for the scene, or time spent waiting for the credits. It was very well done though. I liked it.
Gladiator: Though I have lost much respect for Russel Crowe in the past few years, and deliberately missed a few of his recent pictures because of my dislike for him, I still really like Gladiator. "Are you not entertained?"...I was, very much.
Monty Python: super, mega, mondo-sweet, no matter how many dozens of times I've watched it.
Airplane: classic and untouchable. Looks like I picked the wrong week to stop sniffing glue.
Superman: I've never been much into Superman. I guess I just have a thing against men in leotards. Maybe I'm a homophobe or something.
Return of the King: the movie or the cartoon, because both of them are awesome!
Raiders of the Lost Ark: oh movie of my childhood, how I love thee! I actually watched this one with my wife on our wedding night because we were too tired to WOAH THERE, NEVERMIND!! Its a good movie.
Vanilla Sky: I've heard bad things about it, but havenever seen it. Because it has the Drew Barnett seal of approval, I'll give it a shot someday.
Winged Migration: I make the mistake of putting this movie on just before bed every time I try to watch it. Within ten minutes, I'm out like a light! I really need to watch it when I'm not in bed. The first ten minutes are great!
Independence Day: a very fun movie, but I'm not sure I can give much credence to any movie starring Jeff Goldblum.
Amadeus: I don't think I've seen it, but I will. Thanks for the recommendation.
Shawshank: another very well-picked honorable mention.

My top ten are as follows (in no particular order-because it is so hard to pick a #1 absolute favorite movie)
-Last of the Mohicans
-Magnolias
-Sin City
-Super Troopers
-Saving Private Ryan
-Full Metal Jacket
-Pulp Fiction
-K2
-Signs
-Crash

and those probably do not accurately reflect my all-time ten favorites, but thoese are merely ten good ones that I can think of right now at 2 am.

Well this has trailed on a bit too long don't you think? Good night buddy!
